Two thirds of some 3,000 violent extremists currently in Sweden are believed to have Islamist motives, the head of the country’s security police Säpo said on Monday, TheLocal.se reports.

“Radical extremism has soared from hundreds to thousands now,” chief of Säpo said last month.

While Magnus Ranstorp, the head of terrorism research at the Swedish Defense University said: “There are 50,000/60,000 rejected asylum seekers who have gone underground, including 3,000 in the Stockholm region. We know that someone who was rejected as asylum seeker is more sensible to ISIS’ seduction.
