50 Lesbians against surrogacy: “NO to the commercialisation of women and children”

Fifty Italian lesbian and activist women signed a document against surrogacy. It is one of the first document proposed by the LGBT community “to refuse the commercialisation of women’s body.”  The promoters say the document should not be considered as prohibitionist, but against the possibility of buying and selling human beings.

The initiative is also supported by Giampaolo Silvestri, founder of Italy’s Arcigay, Aurelio Mancuso, President of Equality Italia and other international feminists such as Silvia Federici (Hofsra University, New York), Ariel Salleh (writer) and  Barbara Katz Rothman (Professor of Sociology at the City University of New York).
