Austria ready to deploy troops at Italian border to stop migrants

The Italian foreign ministry summoned the Austrian ambassador to Rome on Tuesday after Vienna said it was ready to deploy up to 750 troops at its border at the Brenner Pass “very soon” unless the flow of migrants from Italy diminishes, ANSA reports. “I think that border controls will be activated very soon and an army deployment will be necessary,” Austrian Defence Minister Hans Peter Doskozil was quoted as saying by the Kronen Zeitung newspaper Tuesday.

France and Spain are unwilling to accept migrant-rescuing NGO ships docking in their ports if Italy goes ahead with a threat to bar foreign-flagged rescue vessels from Italian ports.

French President Emmanuel Macron directly said that France is unwilling to accept economic migrants, who are almost 80% of migrants arriving in Italy.

Well…this is not exactly the European solidarity the founding fathers had in mind….
