Children’s books of ‘Pippi Longstocking’ banned from Swedish city’s libraries because of ‘racist’ content

Swedish local authorities of Botkyrka municipality, near Stockholm, have admitted that they have removed from their libraries some books of ‘Pippi Longstocking‘ because of ‘racist’ content.

Libraries in Botkyrka have put aside some editions of Astrid Lindgrens “Pippi in the South Seas” where there are outdated expressions that can be perceived as racist,” official statement says.  “But Botkyrka Library have also bought the publisher’s new edition of the book from 2015 where the obsolete expression have been replaced by more contemporary expressions,” they added.
