Syrian peace talks resumed in Geneva on Wednesday as residents living in government-held areas went to the polls in parliamentary elections dismissed by the opposition and western backers as a sham. (Guardian)

As a new round of Syria peace talks kicks off in Geneva, Syrians in government-controlled areas head to polling stations to elect a new parliament. Washington has dismissed the poll out of hand saying it doesn’t reflect “the will of the people.” (Russia Today)

American media company CBS reports: “An estimated 3 million Syrians have fled their homeland seeking refuge in neighboring nations, and there are no provisions in place to enable them to vote”.
