European Council postponed the abolition of roaming charges

European Union member states agreed to delay the end of mobile roaming charges in the 28-nation bloc until at least 2018, setting them on a collision course with EU lawmakers (EU Parliament and European Commission) who want the fees scrapped this year. (Reuters)

Roaming charges vary enormously between telecoms operators, and many users complain they pay exorbitant rates to make calls when travelling in the European Union. (RTE)
