Founder of Reporters Sans Frontières and French mayor accused to count Muslim children in his city

Robert Ménard (Front National), mayor of Béziers in the south of France, and founder of NGO Reporters Sans Frontières has been questioned by police after he claimed his administration used the names of school children in his town to determine how many were Muslim. (The Independent)

On 24 March 2008 Ménard and two other members of Reporters sans Frontières were arrested for attempting to disrupt the lighting of the Olympic Flame prior to the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. The disruption was aimed at protesting the crackdownon Tibetancivil rights activities by the Government of the People’s Republic of China
