Vatican and France facing problems over nomination of gay Ambassador

Ambassador Laurent Stefanini was nominated by the French government to represent France to the Holy See in January but there has been no official response from the Vatican yet.

French media suggest the cause of the refusal could be the fact Mr. Stefanini is homosexual.

According to Le Canard Enchainé,  Pope Francis met the ambassador on Saturday confirming his refusal to appoint him French Ambassador to the Holy See. (Le Figaro)

French government‘s Spokesperson said France doesn’t have another candidate because Ambassador Stefanini is the best person for that position. (Rai News)
