German Intelligence agency: “Terrorists are given orders through social networks”

The head of Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, Hans-Georg Maassen said these potential attackers are presumably given orders by foreign terror leaders through encrypted instant messaging services such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Telegram, where “perpetrators themselves are safe and not recognized.”  “This scenario is especially challenging for security authorities – as is the uncovering of sleeper cells,” he stressed. The BfV also confirmed fears that Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorists infiltrated refugee centers in Germany by posing as refugees during the migrant crisis last year. “Different criminal groups such as sleeper cells, returnees and jihadists who are planted among refugees are acting together,” the BfV said.
