With 72% of votes, former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi wins primary election of Partito Democratico, centre left party affiliated to the Party of the European Socialist. The other two candidate Andrea Orlando and Michele Emiliano took respectively 7% and 21%.
“It’s a new page,” Renzi said after the victory. “The voters decided, now the party should remain united,” he also added.
