Ireland: Former minister for Europe, Lucinda Creighton to form new centrist party

Lucinda Creighton, former Minister for Europe and EPP Vice President to form a new centrist party in Ireland. In 2013 she was sucked from Fine Gael (Kenny’s party) for opposing an easing of Ireland’s abortion laws. She said the growth of extremist groups in Europe should not obscure the huge potential for centrists (Reuters). She hopes her new political party will raise €1 million in small donations before the next general election as she prepares to embark on a national promotional tour (Irish Times).
