Italian PM Renzi will ask Chancellor Merkel the resignation of Selmayr, head of Juncker’s cabinet

After the controversy between the Italian government and the European Union over fiscal and immigration policies, Italian PM Matteo Renzi will meet Chancellor Merkel next week, on 29 January.

On the agenda there will also be the Italian request for the resignation of Martin Selmayr (Germany), the head of the cabinet of the President of the European Commission, Corriere della Sera reports. Selmayr, a German EU officer, is accused to have worked and spoken against the Italian government in more than one occasion also leading to  the resignation of the only Italian member of Juncker’s cabinet.
