Juncker calls the European Parliament ‘ridiculous’ for low turnout during key debates

The embarrassingly low turnout of members of the European Parliament for key debates was slammed this morning by EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, who told the assembly it was “ridiculous,” Financial Times reports.

Only 30 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) were present during the debate on the outcome of Maltese presidency.

President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani called Mr Juncker to order. “It’s the European Parliament controlling the European Commission, not the other way round,” Tajani said to Juncker.
