German newspaper Der Spiegel reports that if Martin Schulz does not get the presidency of the European Commission, the German Socialist Party (SPD) would agree to support a German Christian Democrat (CDU/CSU) candidate as European Commissioner in exchange of Merkel and EPP support for a second mandate for Martin Schulz as President of the European Parliament.
