A lie on the European Union was awarded by the New York Times as one of the worst in 2014

The New York Times listed all the worst lies from all around the world in 2014. One of them is on the possibility that the European Union wants to ban double-slot toasters but actually this was a lie since the European Union wanted only to improve their energy efficiency.

This lie was used by Eurosceptic politicians to criticize EU intrusiveness into the way of life of European citizens.

The first position was given to the Italian Eurosceptic MP Di Battista, from Beppe Grillo’s movement (5 Star Movement) who stated Nigeria, you can read about it on Wikipedia: 60 percent of its territory is controlled by Boko Haram, the remaining part is Ebola.”
