“That’s the road to Rome!,” is what ISIS wrote on a wall in one of the now freed area of Sirte (Libya). The writing on the wall has been found by one of the most experienced Italian war reporter Fausto Biloslavo (Il Giornale, Occhi della Guerra) who was in Libya during the offensive of the Government of National Accord forces to retake Sirte from ISIS.
The writing is on a house on the Mediterranean, few miles from the Italian coast. There is an arrow indicating the road to Rome and an scimitar to clarify ISIS’ intentions.
The battle of Sirte has been fought between the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the forces of the Government of National Accord (GNA). ISIS forces have been present in the city since February 2015.
