Turkish Minister for European Affairs calls on EU to open human rights chapters

It is out of the question for Turkey to break off relations with the EU and it will press ahead with its membership bid, Turkish EU Affairs Minister Omer Celik said Wednesday, France24 reports.

The Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik stressed also that if the bloc has concerns regarding human rights in Turkey, then it should open the chapters of the EU acquis that will require the country to carry out reforms, Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah says.
