UK: Christian child forced into Muslim foster care ‘had cross removed and was obliged to wear niqab’

A Christian child was taken from her family and forced to live with a niqab-wearing foster carer in a home where she was allegedly encouraged to learn Arabic, The Times reports.

Local authority reports seen by The Times state that the supervisor heard the girl, who at times was “very distressed”, claiming that the foster carer removed her cross necklace.

It’s also claimed that when the child was given her favourite Italian food to take home – carbonara – her carer wouldn’t let her eat it because it contained bacon. More recently, the girl apparently told her mother that ‘Christmas and Easter are stupid’ and that ‘European women are stupid and alcoholic’.

The placement were made by the scandal-hit London’s Tower Hamlets borough council against the wishes of the girl’s family.  Tower Hamlets is one of the most diverse areas of the country, where only 31 per cent of the population were white British at the time of the 2011 census. It is not known whether the council has a shortage of white British foster carers.
